Insurance coverage , when you need it

I started selling insurance policies when I was still 19. Not that I had much choice then. It was already a year since I graduated from high school, but going to college was still a remote possibility for me. I was also getting tired of flipping burgers at McDonald’s.

How I became an insurance agent was serendipitous enough. My Uncle Bob came to visit me at the store after his first day at a convention for insurance agents in Belleville. (He was based in Avondale.)

I think seeing me emerge from the kitchen smelling like, well, hamburgers, made him to force me to attend the second day of the convention. I did just that and I have not looked back ever since.

Like most insurance agents, I first took the path of life insurance before moving on to their hybrids like endowment plans, and then moving on to other types of insurance. I made my first million after closing a hefty insurance deal for a movie production that was shot in New Zealand.

It was smooth sailing after that, and I now can easily sell life insurance as easily as I can sell movie insurance. Sharpening my selling skills too has allowed me to live the kind of life I want.

Now, 15 years after quitting flipping burgers at McDonald’s, I can now afford to take overseas vacations twice a year with my wife Susie, and I just bought my first BMW.

I now have enough time too to do what I’ve always wanted to do: to inform people about the different types of insurance available. I know that there are just too many types of insurance available in the market today, it’s not that easy to keep up with the information.

I know for me it’s been an effort for me to keep up. How much more for you?
